There are only a handful of performers who've been invited back to perform on the Black Girls Rock! Awards. In this elite sorority is India.Arie who returned to the BGR! stage for the 2019 edition after last gracing it in 2017 with a Roberta Flack tribute alongside Tyrese. For her latest trip to the mic, India rolled solo and dipped into her own songbook to perform her current single "Steady Love."
Dressed in all black, India's look was anything but basic or ominous. As a matter of fact, it was the talk of the town. She was dressed for church from the waist up and ready for the club from the waist down. India's dress had a revealing slit to rival Ari Lennox's, and she served up hot thigh meat on a platter. Known for normally rocking floor-grazing, billowing skirts, seeing India's full leg on display made us clutch our proverbial pearls. We were not ready, but India.Arie most certainly was and she worked the look as she stood center stage and belted out the song. Her music video boo thang David Banner didn't join her to relive the magic they made in the visual, but behind her on a large screen, black-and-white photos of various couples in love were displayed that gave everyone watching the warm fuzzies.
After yet another stellar performance, we suspect that India.Arie should have no problems getting invited back to perform at Black Girls Rock! – and now we can't wait to hear her and see what she wears.
