After releasing his debut album Stronger Than My Fears back in December, New Jersey’s own Jermaine Holmes kicks off the new year with the visual for one of the project’s standout tracks. Described as a “song for lovers all over the world,” “Sunshine,” which features Lyndell Lumzy, is a touching and tender ode to his lover. Over a soothing track laced with sentimental acoustic guitar riffs, the GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist/keyboardist/engineer declares his devotion singing, “This is not a game / And I’m not ashamed / To tell the whole world that you mean more to me than anything / You are my sunshine.”
For the Patrick House and Larese King-directed visual, we watch Jermaine serenade his curly-haired cutie as she basks in his love and affection. It almost feels wrong to intrude on the couple’s private time as he runs his fingers through her curls or the two of them share a laugh. Overall, the visual captures romance in its purest and most innocent form, and mimics the candor of the lyrics. For those who didn’t already have Jermaine on their radar from his work as a member of D’Angelo's band The Vanguard, both his debut album and this new video are sure to place him front and center as one to watch for 2020.
