Mad Skillz Puts 2020 In Its Place With 'Throw It In The Trash (The 2020 Rap Up)'

Mad Skillz (or just Skillz if you're 'bout it) has been recapping the year every year for well over a decade at this point. But with a year like 2020, we knew that he'd have to give us something special. That he does with "Throw It In The Trash (The 2020 Rap Up)" — which is the first time that one of these has had an actual title other than "Rap Up."

Because 2020 was so triflin', it was best that Skillz take it to video to show us just how crazy things got. COVID-19 of course got a bulk of the commentary, but with a year so crazy, there was much more to discuss (and he even brought up some things that we forgot even happened). The most amount of time (outside of the coronavirus-related content) is devoted to soon-to-be ex-president Trump, the Black Lives Matter movement coming front-and-center and the viral moments (and viral super spreaders) that made the year (not-so) great. Oh, and if you notice that the "Rap Up" is extra long this year, there's a very serious point to that, too. As the song comes to a close, Skillz reveals that the amount of time you've been listening to his voice is the same amount of time George Floyd was on the ground with a police officer's knee on his neck.

We have to give it to Skillz for bringing the funny and the serious about a year that pushed all of us to our limits. Here's hoping that 2021 brings some much-needed relief.
