SoulBounce Exclusive: Dondria Learns A Lesson In Love On 'Let It Be'

We’ve all heard the nursery rhyme that goes, "First comes love. Then comes marriage. Then comes old girl with the baby carriage" – or something like that. But that’s the short, fairy tale version of love. In truth, love is work. Hard work. People fall in and out of love, go through trials and tribulations, and, most important of all, they grow from the experience of love. It is this experience that Dondria brings to bear in her new single “Let It Be.”

“Let It Be” is a silky smooth slow jam about reuniting with an ex. “I just got this feeling / This time it's gone be something different / Hope you running wit it,” Dondria sings opening up the track. Brian Michael Cox’s production of keys and synths against a guitar loop provides the perfect sound bed for her vocals to shine. And does she ever. Here, she's giving us real talk about what it means to realize what love really is and strongly expressing to her ex that they can make it work the second time around. While co-written with Josh Bias, you can tell the lyrics come from a deeply personal place, making you not only hear her beautiful vocals but feel where the songstress is coming from.

“Let It Be” is the first single we’ve heard from Dondria after she popped back up in our playlists last year with the re-release of her 2010 song “Where Did We Go Wrong” and her 2019 mixtape, Dondria Duets 5: The 90’s Edition II. We’re happy to see such an amazing R&B artist back with new music, especially someone as talented as Ms. Dondria Nicole. Listen to SoulBounce's exclusive world premiere of "Let It Be" right here.
