That boy Kaytranada seems to be incapable of doing any type of wrong. He proved that with 2019's BUBBA, did it again with the release of that album's instrumentals and continues to do so with his myriad features on albums and tracks by our faves. But Kaytra is a beatsmith first and foremost, and he continues to prove with the release of his latest one-off track "Caution."
"Caution" has many of the hallmarks of Kaytra's unique style of production. Kick drums lead the way, giving heads something to nod to while one of his signature elastic bass lines vibrates your speakers. That lays a foundation for a soulful synth melody that floats over it all like an electric cloud. Quick hits of snare, meanwhile, snap our attention to the beat and give us a cadence to move our bodies to as a chopped vocal sample rounds everything out. It's light work for a gifted musician like Kaytranada, but it's absolutely fire nonetheless.
After giving us so much to jam to over the past year, we could easily say that Kaytranada owes us nothing. However, we're very grateful that he continues to give us grooves like this one to keep us sweating on our virtual dance floors while we wait to get back to real ones in the near future.
