Jazmine Sullivan Has Some Choice Words For The Fellas On 'Tragic'

We hope you're ready for more of Jazmine Sullivan and her tales. The celebrated R&B singer-songwriter — who is up for a couple statues at the BET Awards this weekend and will be performing as well — had tongues wagging when she dropped her EP Heaux Tales at the beginning of the year. If you thought that was all the talent had in her bag, you were wrong. Now she's back with more stories, this time taking aim at the fellas while reclaiming her time on "Tragic."

"Tragic" begins by sampling Maxine Waters' now-iconic rant which spawned the phrase "reclaiming my time." Jazzy does just that on the track as she speaks on what can be a sensitive topic. Actually, let's just say it outright: Jazmine is tired of dealing with dudes whose stroke game isn't up to snuff. "Why do you be / Looking for me / To do all the work?" she sings in frustration. "I'm too tired of / Coming through you / Never put me first." She criticizes her lover's inconsistency a bit more before she stops beating around the bush during the chorus, singing, "When your d**k is tragic / Who was lying when they told you it was all that?" And we oop! Perhaps soothing that severe burn is production from Leven Kali, which marries Jazzy's vocal with a smoothed-out bass line, synth keys and head-nod-worthy drums that make this one a mid-tempo bop.

We'll always stan for Jazmine Sullivan and "Tragic" is just another feather in her well-decorated cap. You can check out "Tragic" below and then stick around for a little pillow talk among Jazmine and her girlfriends where they get very candid about *ahem* size and the crazy things we do to get a little somethin' somethin'.
