Kem & Wiz Khalifa Can Handle The Truth On The 'Lie To Me' Remix

Kem is no stranger to collaborating with other artists, most recently featuring singers Toni Braxton and Erica Campbell on his latest album Love Always Wins. However, he steps out of his collaboration comfort zone on the remix to his 2020 single "Lie To Me" and shakes the table with a feature from rapper Wiz Khalifa.

When you think of Kem, Wiz Khalifa is probably the last person you'd think of, but the unlikely pair unite on this revamped version of "Lie To Me." The original sound bed is gone and replaced with a familiar sample of Big Pun and Joe's jam "Still Not A Player," which itself samples Brenda Russell's "A Little Bit Of Love." The remix will automatically spark nostalgia as well as a smooth two-step, and Kem redoes his parts to fit the updated track. That surprisingly works, but the addition of Wiz is where the remix falls short. His lyrics on the second verse don't quite flow with the love vibe of the song that Kem set – and his random use of Auto-Tune is jarring like a record scratch – but at least he rides the beat.

The release of the "Lie To Me (Remix)" wouldn't be complete without a lavish music video, and Kem and Khalifa check off that box. We watch as a beautiful woman awakens from her slumber to roses and candles on her nightstand and a spread of even more gifts when she comes downstairs. The biggest present of all, though, is Kem who is busy singing and bopping in the living room. Wiz drops his verse from the mansion's balcony that overlooks some gorgeous scenery, where he's soon joined by Kem til the end of the visual.

The artists' fans are eating the "Lie To Me (Remix)" video up, with the clip garnering over a million views within 24 hours of its original release on Facebook. Consider us impressed with those numbers and with Kem giving us something to bop to this summer.
