Jordan Rakei Lets Us Know He's Alright With 'Send My Love'

Jordan Rakei is set to release his most personal project of all when his forthcoming album What We Call Life arrives next month. We received a preview of what to expect with the set's touching lead single "Family." Now Jordan returns with another listen courtesy of his newest single "Send My Love."

Where "Family" dealt with his parents' divorce during his teenage years and his feelings around it, "Send My Love" deals more with Jordan directly. This time around, he's commenting on his relocation to London in pursuit of his dream and the changes that made within him. He essentially strives to communicate that he's doing just fine although he knows his family might worry. "I need you to have faith in me / Riding round my own so freely / Sending all my love home," he sings on the bridge. "It's not too hard to be alone / 'Cause I have time to follow a dream / Making my own wishes to my victory." Helping him send this message home is airy production that manages to sound both wistful and hopeful as if he's at once wishing he could be home but also content with his current place in life.

The thoughtful soul of Jordan Rakei is always a welcome listen, and it looks like What We Call Life will be full of it. We'll have to wait for the album's September 17th release date to be certain, however. Check out the audio and visualizer for "Send My Love" when you press play. And while you're at it, stick around to see a special acoustic performance of "Family" that Jordan recently did for Mahogany Sessions.
