Hitmaka has come a long way from his Love & Hip Hop days (when he was then known as Yung Berg), with him crafting chart-topping hits for many notable folks in the industry. It looks like he wants back in the spotlight as an artist, though, as he's recently linked up with fellow artists Queen Naija and Ty Dolla $ign for his single "Quickie."
The cut, produced by Hitmaka and SkipOnDaBeat, makes it real plain what's going on as Ty gets down to business on the opening chorus. "I need somebody who with it / I need somebody who get it / I need some love in the city / F**kin' like Bobby and Whitney," he sings. "I know it might sound silly / I know you might be busy / I want you to call my name / Just a quickie." While the premise is blunt, the bump and stuttering hi-hats of the track keeps things relatively smooth as the case is made for a quick session. Queen Naija's inclusion only sweetens the pot as she willingly accepts the offer and even makes some requests of her own.
For the song's video, Hitmaka plays a customer looking for something off menu from the waitress at his favorite diner. While Queen and Ty serenade us outside of the shop, Hitmaka's game proves convincing as he and his smokin' hot leading lady dip for some personal time before she comes back to the restaurant to finish her shift.
Speaking on the collaboration, Hitmaka discussed how it came about in a statement, "The song came together organically. Me and my partner Chrishan cooked up the demo and were in Miami with Ty Dolla $ign. Shortly after we sent it to Queen Naija and it really came together! It’s about wanting to be with someone but not having all the time needed so let’s make the best of these moments."
