During the first year of the pandemic while the world was still mostly shut down, many decided to use their downtime wisely to work on themselves. Fitness goals were achieved, self-care was increased, healthier habits were formed, businesses were started, new things were learned and people simply decided to focus on living their best lives. That's the energy that RAII & Whitney harness on their new single "Best You."
The married duo who are background vocalists for a who's who of major artists – they're currently backing Ed Sheeran – encourage listeners to be the best version of themselves on "Best You." They deliver their motivational message over the track's gentle sound bed of guitar, bass, keys and percussion. "Reach for the stars and for the moon / Shine like the sun, be the best you / Grow like the trees, flowers in bloom / Flow like the breeze, be the best you," the lovebirds sing in unison on the chorus, their voices caressing each other in perfect harmony on the lullaby-like song.
An accompanying lyric video features animation by Designology.lk that vividly illustrates the song while bringing the lyrics to life. We watch as animated versions of RAII & Whitney admire all the wonders of nature on a camping trip, fly high in a hot air balloon and slow dance amongst flowers and butterflies. It might be one of the sweetest videos we've watched all year.
"Best You" is the title track from RAII & Whitney's forthcoming EP, the follow-up to their 2020 holiday collection A RAII & Whitney Christmas. The project is described as a "kids/family EP," so we suspect that it will feature music that will appeal to and is appropriate for all ages. (We love to see it!) Best You will be released independently on RAII & Whitney's His & Her Entertainment on Friday, September 24th.
