Jennifer Hudson Remakes A Holiday Classic With 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)'

Christmas time is upon us and that means that we're getting more holiday music than we can possibly handle. Right now, you probably can't go anywhere without hearing a holiday jingle from one of your faves and the endless proliferation of Christmas albums. Throwing her hat in the ring is Jennifer Hudson, who is fresh off her starring role in recent biopic RESPECT. She's mining the past once again to take on Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)."

Jennifer Hudson comes from the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" school of covers, and she stays true to herself with this take. Sleigh bells are ringing, backing singers are harmonizing and a piano melody is being pounded out with feeling as she relates her holiday blues. She sings of the happy times that she's missing since she's apart from her baby this year as she begs for him to come and make her holiday wishes come true. The fact that JHud stays so faithful to the original (down to the mid-song saxophone solo) makes her take even more endearing, even if some of the song's urgency is somewhat lost in the modern-day translation.

If you're a Christmas music person, we'd imagine that Jennifer's new take on this classic will be added to your playlists alongside the lauded original. Fix yourself a cup of cocoa (with a little shot of something adult if you're about that life) and indulge in the remake right here.
