Who can forget
Jay-Z's
The Blueprint, Volume 1? And who can forget the equally memorable 2003 VH1
Storytellers episode showcasing Jay-Z, his many hits, and
The Roots (with
Jaguar Wright on vocals) as his backing band? Well, if you loved Jigga's first
Storytellers, this Thursday it will be like Christmas a month early when Jay's
new hour-long episode premieres on VH1. Although Jay-Z's
American Gangster album was inspired by the film
American Gangster (read: not featured in the movie),
Jay connected with the film on many levels and decided to release his album close to the film's release date. The episode of
Storytellers was shot October 24 at a soundstage in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, mere steps from Jay's childhood stomping grounds. This time around the "
Roc Boys" will be providing musical accompaniment, and Jay will have some collabos, including appearances by
Beyoncé,
Chingy,
Kanye West, and
Rihanna.
Storytellers: Jay-Z, Life of an American Gangster airs 11/8 at 9PM EST on VH1.
