Whose 'Brotha' Is Betta? Angie Stone's Or Jill Scott's?
This was suggested to us some time ago, and it's finally here: Angie Stone versus Jill Scott in the "Brotha" Battle of the Beats. Both of these luscious ladies have duked it out in previous BOTB's but this is their first time going up against each other, and what a match up this is. In this corner, we have Angie with one of her biggest hits from her sophomore CD, Mahogany Soul. Her anthem for Black men from the corner to the boardroom was a mainstay on urban radio, and the remix with Alicia Keys and Eve gave the track an even longer shelf life. In the other corner, we have Jill with an album cut from her classic debut CD, Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds, Vol. 1. Although the song wasn't released as a single, this inspirational cut became a favorite of Jill's fans.

Jill Scott hands down, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Angie's brotha is so commercial to me and comes from a place of "lets sell some records". Jills version touches my soul and i feel her on this. its like she is whispering asperations in my ear. I LOVE YOU JILL SCOTT! HEY YALL... WHATS T?

I looove both Jill and Angie a whole lot and both songs are classics but I have to go with Angie Stone on this one because she had the guts to release this song as a single, for this reason a lot she has my vote. Secondly, whenever I listen to this song I get teary eyed because the lyrics to her Brotha is simple yet deep for every Brotha.

I will go against my own extreme lust of all things Jilly to go with Angie. I used to play this whenever the women at my job would start dogging on men (stayed in repeat a long long time). And anything that can shut down 5+ women for more than 3 seconds AND make them think has to be good.
