Looking Back
Neo-Soul is Probably Dead. Who Killed It?
- We watched K-OS wipe the floor with Lupe Fiasco.
- We reminded you that we still care about Bilal.
- We watched you drown trying to "Name That Beat".
- We asked you to pick your favorite soulful Christmas song.
- We finally confirmed just how high Snoop Dogg is.
- We recalled the mastery of Jermaine Jackson.
- We listened to Marsha Ambrosius kill neo-soul for over 20 minutes.
- We watched Mary J. Blige talk with Tavis and I committed the most egregious act in my short history of being the SoulBounce founder: EDITORIAL STANNING.

Neo-soul was nothing but a ploy to convince consumers to buy R&B music again. At the time R&B was really on a downside and the only way to revive it was to disguise it under a new genre.
So when Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Musiq, India Arie and others all came out, labels tried to associate them with that new genre to help them sell. As you can see it worked for those that really had talent and they are still here even though the so called "genre" has died.
