Diggin' in the Crates
DITC Bonus: Dwele 'Startin Somethin'
Dwele's interpolation of "Wanna Be Startin' Something" wipes the floor with Akon's remake for Thriller 25. I just thought I'd put that out there. Then again, the sound of tires screeching and felines copulating has more artistic integrity and aural appeal than Akon.
Thank You.

Is an artist not allowed to experiment...?
T-Vybe | March 1, 2008 4:16 PM | PermalinkGwaaan Dwele! u da undisputed king of vybe-filled mellow!!
The vocals on this one sound a lot like the one's on Down Jimmy from the Rize cd... I always like to hear things that artist play around with..
Bobby Herod | January 29, 2008 3:46 AM | PermalinkThis is fly! Dwele can do no wrong IMO.
Julia_Claudine_Deveraux | January 27, 2008 8:12 PM | PermalinkIt is all good; I love DWELE and anything that I hear from him makes me feel good. His voice is so sexy against the sound of the music.
Kim | January 26, 2008 11:17 AM | PermalinkI LOVE-LOVE Dwele, for real he's a fav of mind, but this is BORING as hell.
Ms Nique | January 26, 2008 11:05 AM | PermalinkI am a huge Dwele fan, but this track is just OK to me. I think the stuff he's done with Roy Hargrove is the best combination of his soul/jazz chops captured on recordings. However, it does run CIRCLES around that crap with Akon.

DIRTYSOUL | January 24, 2008 12:05 PM | PermalinkThis works for Dwele! not so much for Akon.
Sheree | January 23, 2008 4:08 PM | PermalinkDwele delivers on a much more soulful tip than Akon and I could put that on replay but...that track as originally done by MJ should just be left alone.
Maria Bentley | January 23, 2008 2:53 PM | PermalinkI'm not real excited by this.
J Renzo | January 23, 2008 2:43 PM | PermalinkWhat the hell is the point of this !?! Just repeating the chorus over an 808, some finger snaps, and a Rhodes piano !? The music business is in the toilet when shit like this gets released!!!
Graham Kracker | January 23, 2008 2:24 PM | PermalinkUsually Dwele's style after awhile can seem so downtempo and a bit tooooo sloooooow that it just makes me want to fall asleep, but it is for this reason that this track totally works. It's nice to see/hear something of Michael's that doesn't evoke any automatic knee-jerk response.
