No, I am not feeling Erykah Badu's single "Honey," and I have made this known. But the video is dope! 

Why?

  1. The premise of a female crate-digger hunting for records in a shop...
  2. Who finds not only classic albums but some of the most influential albums of our generation, and... 
  3. We find Badu filling in for the artists on these album covers, live-action style, and...
  4. She even spoofs one of her baby's daddy's videos!

For someone not to like the "Honey" single or the new video, I don't think they're true Badu fans!! Our D-town girl always brings it, she may be out there sometimes, but she doin' her!! If anyone has the CD, #9 is the ish!!! I love Erykah cuz she don't mind reppin' Dallas, her hometown, and she just da' bomb!!

It's funny how now this song has been in my head all day now that I can't keep watching the video over and over again. "Honey" is still a bit too simplistic a song for me, but with the dopeness of the video, it somehow makes more sense.

I intend to take off from work on 2/28 to celebrate the release of the new album. Don't laugh when you see me in my afro wig, black-rimmed glasses, and a turban on my head.

You no likey the song?! My side-eye started twitching but luckily I got my drops :) Besides, I gotta save it all for the Demise of the Union address tonight.

Anywho, thanks for posting. As others said, it made me smile AGAIN on a Monday morning. I majorly heart this video. There's actually something to look at here. It totally fits E Badu's artistry. She's so innovative. Never boring. Quite the chameleon in all areas!

And I loved the Hey Ya spoof. LOL! She was rocking the hell out of that purple lipstick.
