D.C. Is The Place To Be Tonight
Tonight is one of those rare nights in Washington, D.C. where there is almost too much going on. You would think that this is a holiday or a night during Howard University's homecoming week instead of it being just a regular old Thursday with all of the hotness happening in the city this evening. Check out the social calendar:
--Chrisette Michele and Wes Felton (the artist formerly known as W. Ellington Felton) are going to be rocking the house at the 930 Club.
--Bohemian Caverns is hosting a New Amerykah listening party.
--XM Satellite Radio is celebrating Dilla Day at their headquarters with a special live broadcast featuring J Dilla's mother, Maureen Yancey, Talib Kweli and Pete Rock.
--After he wraps up at XM, Pete Rock is scheduled to spin and celebrate the release of his new CD, NY's Finest, during the Laced video mix party at the Cue Bar.
Whew! Now that's what I'm talking about. I don't know what the DMV soul lovers and hip-hop heads did to deserve all this, but please keep it coming.

Ummm, am I the only one who is not particularly feeling any of the tracks I've heard from Pete Rock's latest CD? I think he's genius and the Soul Survivor projects are hot hot hot, but this new one? Just eh, darn it! I was hoping for heat.

DJ Diva | February 22, 2008 9:01 PM | PermalinkAww man! Not that I have XM, but I know that was HOT.
At the Badu party, this dude was talking about how Dilla worked with Erykah on Mama's Gun (I think) and let her pull any album out of the crate and he would make a beat to it. I think I heard that right. I'm too lazy to look it up. Sounds right though.
Boy, it was good to be in the house with soul music lovers. Good to be in the urrrea.
