this is so unfair to such a rare talent, and an injustice to the music world. but death is unfair, period. I am so very sorry Static is gone. I LOVED PLAYA TO THIS DAY! I love the music he wrote for Aaliyah, another angel taken from us all too soon. Godspeed, Static...we'll love you and miss you forever.
Pam Gallegos | March 3, 2008 8:44 PM | PermalinkWe have been talking about the death and contributions of Static over at Highbrid Nation. I really am curious as to the reason why such a talented guy died so suddenly.
Mike Belgrove | February 28, 2008 11:01 AM | PermalinkI heard this sad news yesterday and I felt like a friend of my very own had died. I literally ran into my mother's arms as I tried to soak in the news. I'm truly hurt about this.
I have FAITHFULLY listened to that Playa album since it was released; even had to purchase multiple copies 'cause I burnt it out or folks I lent it to refused to give it back after they got attached to it. It was so ahead of its time that even today, the songs sound fresh. That's talent. I've thought of these three young men often over the past ten years and even recently started to get caught up with what Static has been doing since those days. So to have him pass right at the start of the next phase of his career? Man, it hurts.
So talented, so young, so positive, so much ahead of him. But I believe that everyone is here for a season and for a reason . I know that the lives he touched will carry on his legacy.
May Static RIP.
MissJ | February 27, 2008 2:12 PM | PermalinkNot only remembering someone who meant so much to me, but who meant so much to many. Stephen “Static/Major” Garrett was my friend, a brother to me; I will sincerely miss you.
We have lost a true visionary, and rare talent. There are so many thoughts going through my head right now, so many emotions... I’m having a hard time writing this... My career was directly attached to what Stephen accomplished; it was because of his faith, his belief in me that I became the artist that I am today. Stephen, I will miss you my friend, a real dude, a real talent... gone. I know your in a better place, I know your with your sister, I know your at peace, I know I will see you again one day. Thank you for all that you did for me and the countless others who were LUCKY enough to walk with an angel.
R.I.P. ... MAJOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
