It's Not TV...It's JILLY TV
Congrats are in order for SoulBounce fave Jill Scott, whose project, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, has been picked up by pay-TV behemoth HBO. The network that gave us some of television's most acclaimed series, including The Sopranos, The Wire and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has ordered the two hour pilot plus 13 hour-long episodes of the series produced by the Weinstein Company, the BBC and filmmakers Anthony Minghella and Richard Curtis. The drama, which was shot in Botswana earlier this year, stars Scott as Precious Romatswe and Anika Noni Rose as her secretary, and is based on the Alexander McCall Smith book series.
No word yet on when the series will begin airing, but best believe the SoulBounce crew will let you know. Now excuse me while I go cross my fingers and hope that Jill is perfecting her accent between concerts.
