Name That Beat
Name That Beat: Bringing You The Realness Since '07
Hi-de-ho, gang! Welcome to this week's installment of Name That Beat. Last week's sample was eagerly answered by a few of y'all, however, I can only award the prize to DJ Diva since she had the first correct answer of "What Can You Bring Me?" by Charles Wright & The Watts 103rd St Rhythm Band, sampled by Brand Nubian for their "Punks Step Up to Get Beat Down." Good job to everyone else who offered other tracks that this sample was used for. In the future, just remember that if the song you have in mind sounds like a straight jack of the original, e.g. ATCQ's "Rock Rock Y'all," that is not what I'm thinking of.
This week's sample is below. To be correct you must include in your answer:
Good luck!

I do love me some Weather Report LOL
Good job on the guess, although I wasn't thinking of Brand Nubian. Do y'all really think I'd do another Brand Nubian song two weeks in a row?
There's another song I'm thinking of when it comes to this sampled track. Any takers?
ill Mami | March 4, 2008 8:23 PM | PermalinkIll Mami loves her some Weather Report.
Who does it for you? Joe Zawinul? Jaco? Wayne?
Brand Nubian sampled "American Tango" on their scathing black cop treatise "Black and Blue". I need to dig that album back out again. Or maybe not. Might influence me to kirk out on somebody, joe.
"I'm back, ninjas!!"
