Who Do You Want To Get 'Closer' To? Goapele Or Floetry?

Since Marsha Ambrosius got some Act Right, it's high time to add Floetry to a Battle of the Beats. And who better to put the duo up against than Goapele with their identically-named songs "Closer."

Goapele broke out in 2002 with the independent release of her debut album, Even Closer, buoyed by the feel-good song "Closer." Columbia Records took notice of the Bay-area songstress, picked her up, rereleased the album in '04 and the song became a national hit amongst the neo-soul set. And for those who may have missed the song by some stroke of misfortune, it was even included on her sophomore Columbia release.

Another neo-soul fan favorite, Marsha and Natalie Stewart stepped onto the scene in the late '90s, flexing their songwriting talents for various artists before branching out to cut their own records as Floetry. "Closer" came from their criminally underrated second album, Flo'Ology. The UK duo struck gold with their debut Floetic, but for whatever reason Flo'Ology didn't get the same amount of love and it was a tight album, with this track as a perfect example.

So, ladies and gents, are you trying to get closer to your dreams or closer to each other?

Floetry. you can't compare really. All they have in common is the title. The flow of each is different

Goapele. No question.

Goapele!

I love both tracks, but I'm going to give this one to Floetry. The two songs are so different so it is hard to compare them.

Goapele.

Both are dope tracks, but I choose Pele-Pele as the winner by a nose hair...

Goapele...hands down. I love me some Floetry...esp. Marsha...but this was not a fair battle...lol

Goapele...easy

Goapele is my girl!So I'm going with Goapele.

My gurl Goapele.

Goapele!

*sigh*

I like Goapele, I really do. I saw her live at the Roxy in LA, and it was a great show. I just like Floetry better - they have stronger albums.

But in this particular contest?

Goapele. No question.

Goapele. Point black. Period.

Her "Closer" was my jam!
