A Soulful Noise

Chauncey Black + Flipmode = Blackstreet 3.0

chauncey_black.jpg
Not to be outdone by this bit of gossip, Chauncey Black, formerly of Teddy Riley's Blackstreet, has been signed to Busta Rhymes' Flipmode Records. Yes, Chauncey Black, the same dude with the whiny voice who replaced more the more soulful Dave Hollister. Before you ask why you should care, keep in mind that there is a segment of the population who are just frothing at the mouth to be able to relive any memories of the late '90s but in an instant vintage kind of a way. Chauncey's first single "Everyday Is Your Birthday" from his forthcoming album Church Boy sounds almost exactly like an old midtempo Blackstreet song. Hopefully, this is what the record label believes will be able to hook those millions of die-hard Blackstreet fans. Although this song is a bit tired to me with its message of promising to take his beloved shopping, out to eat, and get her nails did er'ryday, what girl doesn't like a bit of pampering? You can listen to it here

I miss Blackstreet, the Before I Let You Go Blackstreet.LOL @ whiny voice he did his thing on Money Can't Buy Me Love, didn't sound as whiny.

Chancey always sounds like he's straining to sing.
