A Soulful Noise
Polow Da Don On Board for Chante Moore's Next Album
As previously reported here on SoulBounce, Chante Moore's Love the Woman will be released this month. Details of the project's direction have finally emerged via Chante's Myspace page. Joining Raphael Saadiq and Warryn Campbell is Polow da Don, the producer responsible for mega-hits by Fergie, Nicole Scherzinger and Kelis. We're giving this match-up the side-eye. Back in August, Polow declared himself "King of the White Girls" and went on to state that Black women "are taught to question [their men]. Black women look at submission as being weak. White women look at submission as being a woman. And anyone who has a problem with this statement is ignorant." Why a strong, mature sister like Chante would put herself in the orbit of this foolishness is beyond us, but we trust that whatever they emerge with will be something fierce. Rumored guests on Love the Woman include Rick Ross and Kid Sister. Polow has also co-opted a rare 2Pac verse recorded during the All Eyez On Me sessions that he hopes will make the album.

chante moore has already made a "club' album it called "exposed". and it didn't go any where. if she can pull of a keke wyatt "soul sista" album she be good to go. but i don't think most people would be feeling it.
layzieone | May 26, 2008 12:36 AM | PermalinkThis combo gets a hellafied side-eye from me as well, but I hold out hope that it will turn out ok. The 2 songs I've heard thus far are both really good and are hopefully indicative that the record will be too.
At the end of the day, Chante Moore is a wonderfully talented, emotive and sensual (and yes, under-rated) vocalist. She gets nothing but love from me. If nothing else it will be good to hear her on her own again instead of singing all over Kenny.

I'm really not interested in how Chante Moore would sound as a Pussycat Doll, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and see if she surprises me.
SoulStar | April 1, 2008 7:24 PM | PermalinkWhat is she doing? I am with you on the sideye! She has always been underrated and I have theory that MJB and to a lesser extent SWV messed up the game for artists like her, Tamia, and Deborah Cox. My theory does not take anything away from Mary, but post Mary you had to have a little edge to make it in the R&B world.
But Chante is similar to Patti in a respect great voice, poor songs. Does she really think she can crank in the club? How about coming out with a mature soulful cd ala Maxwell (i forgot he does not record)? Something that could bridge the gap between Jill and Teedra...
