The more leaks that I hear from Syleena Johnson's upcoming CD, the more I am convinced that this woman is the truth and the light. The latest track to hit the web from her forthcoming Chapter 4: Labor Pains is the sexy groove "Baby I'm Scared of You," which finds Syleena remaking the Womack & Womack classic while channeling her inner '70s soul diva as she belts that she "wants a man that means everything he says and not a boy full of play." Preach, sista! Deciding to stay true to the original, with Syleena's throwback sound this song could have easily fit into a radio playlist circa 1978 but still works in '08. Press play below and keep listening to hear when a male vocalist growls into the mic Teddy Pendergrass style and starts to duet with Syleena. I don't know who the singer is, but he needs to release a record STAT. This is one of those songs that makes you want to grab your sweetie by the hand and two-step the night away...amongst other thangs.
Syleena Johnson: "Baby I'm Scared of You"
Update: Turns out that this "new hotness" isn't so new at all. It appears as if this song first saw the light of day in '98 on Syleena's independent debut album, Love Hangover. (Yes, there was a release before Chapter 1: Love, Pain & Forgiveness, and it wasn't called Preface.) Perhaps this tune will find a new home on Chapter 4: Labor Pains given the positive response from so many who've never heard it before. It could happen.

Yeah this girl's voice is beautiful. I agree this song is on the Love Hangover album that she recorded when she was a teenager. I believe her father, Syl Johnson, is the male singer on the song.
Her voice is so angelic! GO SYLEENA JOHNSON! I'm ready for Chapter 4!
As far as I could find the "Long hangover" CD was a self produced, low budget independent release that didn't sell many copies. It was released on the same label as an album she recorded with her father Syl Johnson around 1995. She must have been a teenager then.
Good looking out, Monica. I didn't even realize she had an album out before Chapter 1. The track may be old but it seems as if most haven't heard it before. It would be a great look if she re-released it, though. We'll see.
Is this really a leak from her upcoming album?? , Ii have my doubts. 'Cause it already was on her 2000 album "Love hangover".
Just check http://www.syleenafans.com/Music/index.htm to see
But I guess back then she wasn't a yet and perhaps she wants this song to get another shot or something.

The first Syleena album was called "Long Hangover". It was released in 2000. You can buy a used copy on Amazon for about $60.
