'I Decided' That Solange's New Video Ain't So Bad

Last night on BET's Access Granted Solange premiered the new video for her single "I Decided." I didn't watch the program (BET only captures my attention during A Different World reruns nowadays) to get the skinny on the making of the video, but the end result is surprisingly good. Solange and her dancers shimmy their cocoa pops in front of eye-catching visuals of pop culture from the '60s to the '80s with requisite wardrobe and wig changes. I probably shouldn't like this song or video because of who they're by, but I'm willing to give young Miss Knowles a chance to step out of her big sister's shadow and find her own lane. Sue me.

I first want to say I love Beyonce and always was waiting to see what her lil Sis would Do. I am soooo happy she came out with something of her own. Kudos to u Solange. I love the song..the video had to grow on me but its cute now that I understand ur concept. Keep doing what u do and be creative.Love ur style..different flavor. As for ur sis keep doing what she does too. You guys can touch different audiences...everythings not for children...sometimes you want to shake ur butt....thats why we have the disney channel...lol. Did I mention I love B's uh oh...lol

Oh alright. I was just forced to watch the video because I was too lazy to get up to find the remote. I decided I kinda like the song too. Video is instrastin. Not sure what it has to do with the song. But it is...cute.

If you tell anybody I said this, I'll have to kill ya! LOL!

I felt the same way about this video. When I saw it on MTV Jams, they didn't list the video info/credits so I was playing the guessing game on who it was for a while. I like the song, the nice little beat and she wins with the visuals of pop culture.

I love this song i think she did a great job and hopefully this helps her have her own career.

I think Solange did a wonderful job. She sang very well.
She dances great. She’s covered up and she’s not
showing her ass like Beyonce do. She is different and
that is good. She wants everyone to know that too. And
you can tell she don’t want to be compared to her so called
goodie goodie sister. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store.

GREAT JOB Solange:) I really like the song and the video.
It has a wonderful beat that you can dance to. I was happy
to see that she was not shaking all over the place. She’s
bringing back the old time music and dance. No butt dance.

I loved the video she's not shaking her butt all over the place like her sister. She knows how to get people to like her songs with out doing all that booty bouncing. My girls can watch this video. At least one Knowles can make it in a clean way. YOU GO GIRL.
Teach your sister how to make a clean fun video.

I really enjoyed Solange video. It is clean and fun. I can listen to it over and over again. Keep on making videos like this Solange my children can learn from it too besides turning her butt around to a man like her sister was teaching young girls to do.

I LIKED THE VIDEO BECAUSE IT WASN'T NOTHING LIKE SOMETHING HER SISTER WOULD DO. SHE SEEMS TO ACT A LITTLE MORE MATURE THAN HER SISTER.

you know...I feel like this video did exactly what it was meant to do, it introduced Solange as a creative and unique artist. It had enough hype to build interest, but wasn't supposed to be a grand presentation of artistic merit either. To me it satisfied it's purpose, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from Sol-Angel, Solange, That Hadley Girl or whatever her alias is.

The video is different and creative. The singing is fair to midland. I hope "they" don't over expose her as if she is the most talented thing on earth though. There are sooo many people who can out sing the Knowles' sisters...especially the young lady at my church named Shatavia. That gurl can sang.

Thank you for posting this. I've been waiting to see this video for quite awhile. I've been listening to the song since it was leaked a few months ago and I saw some segment on her video on the news... but I had no idea that the video would be this well done and creative! With all those colors and effects. Plus, this has an extra bridge and adlibs on the end that the radio edit didn't have. I think I might even like this more than the "Honey" video.

Can't wait for Solange's album. I think signing to Geffen Records was the best decision she ever made... they're letting her be herself. I've heard a few clips off the album ("Sandcastle Disco," "God-Given Name," "White Picket Dreams," "Champagne Chronic Nightcap") and she's really going far and beyond what these other R&B chicks are doing. (No, I'm not a Solange stan... yet.)

P.S.: Did she throw up the Roc diamond at 1:30 or am I just imagining things?

The video is creative. Her voice sucks though. I guess you don't really have to be able to sing these days though.

I LOVED this song when I first heard it. It made me tap my feet. And now that I've seen the video, I love it even more. I think she's gonna do good this time around.

It's funny, I just happen to catch the end of the show and the video, when I was flipping channels. It caught my eye, however not to the side, and for good reason, I really like the video. I thought it was really creative, colorful, and showed her personality. It made me wanna see more and frankly a new artist hasn't did that in a while. BTW,have you checked out the interview that clutch mag did? Again, it left me wanting to hear and see more....

Not too keen on her voice, but the video is great! So creative! Way better than a number of music vids out now. Wow. Love it!
