One Question, One Answer: Who's the Dopest MC Out Right Now, PERIOD?
Not for nothing, but MTV's Hottest MCs to Ever Earn a Gossip Headline 2008 received more than its fair share of side-eyes and death threats from our readers. So we decided to ask you, The Unrelentingly Opinionated SoulBounce Hip-Hop Guru, who's the dopest out right now?
Our poll is over 30-deep, with the option for one we missed. To wit, we purposely left off some likely characters such as your Weezys and Jeezys and Rick Reezys because this is SoulBounce, people! We're not hating; we're just sick of them. Also, it was important for us to highlight some of the cats that are really putting in work under the radar, as well as those that have been grinding for years and still maintain a level of integrity that has, for the most part, flown out the window in pursuit of lining the pockets of some old corporate dude that doesn't even listen to Hip Hop. Third, unlike MTV's Hip Hop Braintrust, we believe an MC has a ridiculously enormous vocabulary and not only knows how to pronounce those words, but knows their definitions too.

@TiP: It was indeed harder then i thought it would be!!! I went for Black Thought in the end. I like Blu, but its too early to pick him as a nr.1 (O_o)

"this is for the illest mc's that'll never be known". the industry, underground & mainstream is in a sad state and too many true talented artists are getting little to no recognition and perhaps never will. peace.

I went with Ghostface but I based my choice more off the same criteria those buffoons at "That Place That Used to Play Music Videos" but on a 3 year scale instead of just 1.

I can't remember if Jadakiss was on there but he does need to be included - if for no other reason than threatening to hit Puffy/Puff Daddy/etc etc with a refrigerator from a tall building. LMAO.. bodyguards can't stop that indeed.

But alas, I went with the MC I been down with the longest, or the oldest child. You know the one that is "always misbehavin & mischivous". That's right Busta, I been down with him since "Case of the PTA" of course "Scenario" and I love him still. Q-tip was close but honestly I always liked Phife more.
