Rissi Palmer Brings Country Flair to 'No Air'

Remember about two months ago when I admitted to liking the Jordin Sparks/Chris Brown song "No Air"? Of course you do. What can I say? It's one of my guilty pleasures. Well, here's another confession: once in a while, in the privacy of my own home, you can catch me grooving to...country music. There, I said it. So imagine my delight when I recently discovered that two of my most guilty pleasures had combined, as country singer (and hottie!) Rissi Palmer released a country remake of "No Air." And with a video! Of course I had to share, if for no other reason than to hip you to the fact that Rissi, one of a very few black country singers, is still out there doing her thing thriving in the genre. Palmer, who sang her way to the Star Search finals a few years back and has been featured in promotions for both Starbucks and Wal-Mart, worked with producer Nathan Chapman on the remake, and the song debuted on CMT last month. Below is the official video, and after the bounce (because I love her) check out some behind the scenes footage. If you know like I know, give Rissi and chance, and bounce to some country every once in a while. It's good for the soul.

I really like this version! I'll support any talented (person of color) no matter what the genre of music.

I like this version a lot. I do miss Chris Brown's "may-ee" at the end, though.

I am unashamed of my love for this song.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by her rendition. I dare I say it, like it more than the original. I'll have to give Rissi's music a closer listen.

thanks for this post! I love contemporary country too and it's exciting to be introduced to a african american newcomer!
