It's Alright With Musiq & Mary 'If U Leave'
Fresh off the presses is a new track from the upcoming Musiq Soulchild release On My Radio entitled "If U Leave" featuring SoulBounce fave Mary J. Blige. The song, another solid Musiq slow jam, details the travails of a couple on the brink of breaking up, with the twist being that both are asking for just one more try before the other walks out the door. MJB is a perfect complement on this track, as she's at her best when she shows vulnerability. It's a perfect radio joint and, on a larger level, it shows that the crooner is still in fine form and should tide his fans over until the new album drops December 2nd. Check it and let us know what you think.

I love this song. I love musiq soulchild period. Plus he has a collaboration with the lady of R & B Mary J Blidge makes the song even more wonderful. 5 STARS; 2 THUMBS!

Rich | November 3, 2008 11:27 AM | PermalinkThis song is amazing. This song just teaches you that love is about sacrifice, and hardwork. You have to be willing to work on your problems and except your companions. So the best thing is putting your all into a relationship, so that you wont regret anything in the future.
Whitney Baker | October 30, 2008 4:14 PM | PermalinkWell, I guess I'm the lone voice of dissent on this one.
For Musiq, this is OK. But I feel like Mary went at least 10 years backwards with this performance. She's grown so much, and this tune doesn't do that evolution justice. Sorry folks. No thumbs up from me.

laughing808 | September 18, 2008 3:08 PM | PermalinkI like it. The melody reminds me of his previous song, "Teach Me How to Love."
DLS77 | September 18, 2008 3:05 PM | PermalinkI am glad to hear that Musiq IS indeed staying true to the neo-soul movement. Now "Radio" was a disaster, and hopefully he will keep it off OnMyRadio but this song right here is what we expect from this guy. And not too many people can do it like him. MJB is the icing on the cake for this song. Lots of REAL music coming our way before Christmas!
Ronald D. Willis | September 18, 2008 2:53 PM | PermalinkTight. Musiq has been forgiven.
