Musiq & Mary 'Leave' A Lasting Impression
Let's just get this out of the way: I do agree (wholeheartedly, even) with those who've said that Musiq's new single "If U Leave" sounds eerily similar to Luvanmusiq's "Teach Me" when it begins. Which would be unforgiveable if it wasn't for what the newer song adds to make up for the lazy track work--a duet with Mary J. Blige! So I got past that and went on to enjoy the song each time I heard it. And when I heard that the video would be having its world premiere last night, I was tempted to set the DVR. I mean, it's MUSIQ AND MARY! Which, in my book, makes it an event. Unfortunately, I'm out of town, so I had to settle for seeing the clip online, and, just as I suspected, it's a winner. In fact, after noting that the two were competing for the title of "most funky hairdo" (the mohawk works on Musiq, for some unexplicable reason), I thoroughly enjoyed the "night & day" perspective, even if it meant that the two singers were never in the same place at the same time. It's at the end of the clip, though--where the payoff happens--that I nodded my head and said, OK, I'm impressed. Good stuff. Check it below and let us know your thoughts.

The beginning is a little too similar to TeachMe... however, I LOVE this video; kudos to the director.
BTW...I'll have to disagree to your approval of Musiq's hair. =]. I think his head is a bit too round to pull it off, but i still love him!!

It had a couple of different twists: 1. that Musiq and mary are ‹em›not‹/em› singing to each other 2. that they have different outcomes. A unique approach. I would have preferred tow happy endings, but that's just me. And yes, the beginning sounds EXACTLY like Teach Me.
