Common Takes A Break From Dancing For Some 'Changes'
While in the midst of touring in support of his upcoming album, Universal Mind Control, Common comes with "Changes," an uplifting ditty from the new album on the warm and fuzzy tip. Will this likely end up in your iPod when you need to relieve some stress? Probably not, but it plays a larger role in lives of those who are "three feet high and rising"--in other words, kids. Complete with an excerpt from President-elect Obama's victory speech (yay!) at the end, it's perfect for kicking leaves while pondering about the much needed change that is finally on the horizon. I'm feeling it, but not feeling it, if that makes sense. Common is always good for what he does and I've been down since "Can I Borrow a Dollar". Ida know, this would have to grow on me. I think it might be the production. It kinda takes me back to Electric Circus, where the message is there but it kinda gets drowned out by the laziness / craziness of the track. I hear what Com is saying and he spits it with the same emotion, intellectualness and introspection he is consistent for but the production is kinda distractiing. He's still Com though and anytime you do you and no one else, you get Props from me.

It's time to step up our game and stop glorifying all the negatives. Its all right for black folks to feel good.

Maybe I am still feeling upbeat from yesterday iono. But all in all I think Common is on his J.O. for putting out some positive stuff at the right time. G'head Common.
