Seal's Been 'Loving You Too Long'

Fortunately for Seal his cover of Otis Redding's "I've Been Loving You Too Long" does the fantastic original a fair amount of justice. It's simple, straightforward and not embellished with too many contemporary accents but still fresh enough that it's not an outright copy. The video is similarly uncomplicated, just Seal moving around in a decrepit room illuminated by some type of digital spotlighting and amid candelabras. It's definitely less cheesy than it sounds, and Seal sells the tortured lyrics pretty well. It's beautifully shot, and Seal looks as sophisticated as ever. It's a nice compliment to a good cover.

Comments

This is my one of my favorite Otis Redding song's (next to 'try a little tenderness'- which Chris Brown made a mess of) Seal did a great job with it. To Soulrific's comment I'd love to hear Anthony Hamilton cover "These Arms of Mine." I think he'd kill it.

Glad he stayed as close to the original song as possible. As much as I dislike remakes, I'd love to see Anthony Hamilton try his hands at Otis' "These Arms of Mine."
