With high production value, scenes of unknown pretty people doing a variety of things, and John Legend's exposed décolletage, the video for "Everybody Knows" is nice to watch. As Legend walks about city streets, dark interiors, and other locales he sings about what "everyone knows and nobody really knows," which appears to be heartbreak. Many of the visual elements seem incongruous--his shirtless bust being simultaneously tattooed and un-tattooed, a young woman giving birth, the closing shot of all the actors--but the mood of the song really comes through in an unexpectedly touching way. There is a connection there (spoiler: it's that everybody knows). This video is definitely worth giving one more try.
