'If You Fall' For Dru Hill, That's On You

As the rest of us are two-stepping into the new year, Dru Hill is back again, and taking a decidedly different approach. Known for their ballads, the guys are aiming for play at the clubs with the newest single entitled "If You Fall" that leaked last week from their momentous long-awaited why? comeback album. I have to say, after six listens, it started to grow on me. The problem with that is that it took six listens for it to grow on me. Which makes it perfect for radio. The ultimate fail, in my opinion, is that the group--one of the few in which each member can actually sing well--impales itself on the Auto-tune cross unnecessarily. Although, in their defense, they probably recorded the song sometime last year when that version of vocal "enhancement" was all the fad en vogue. Clearly, the fellas are taking their time with InDRUpendence Day, what with the previous track leaking last June. At this rate, I'm pretty confident the project will be ready to go on their desired July 4th date. In 2014.

Dru Hill: "If You Fall"

Comments

To bmorescola4ever: that is auto tune.... a talkbox, vocoder, and 99% percent of what you hear on the radio (aka t-pain) is all autotune turned up to 100%

I love Dru Hill, but damn...this sucks! *pout*

this will be a very and I mean VERY short comeback attempt. This song is worse then being constipated on a cross country flight.

you know...you must be right about the dru hill song. the first time hearing it was tough on me. but i'm not going to listen to it again so i'll take your word for it.

They let Scola go? What? And I'd only just gotten used to having five members rather than four. Can't listen to the song at the moment; so can't comment accordingly, but will say that their second album gets the most play still to this day. I bought the third, for canon's sake, but this one, I don't know. Three members? It just doesn't seem right. I want my old school Dru Hill back, not this wackery.

That's not auto-tune...it's the talkbox(Roger Troutman,Teddy Riley)

Chile, listening to this caused me extreme mental DRUress

@sdg: Don't you mean "Back to the DRUing Board"?

(better than "InDRUpendence Day". Hmph.)

I think they need to head back to the drawing board. Seriously.

Personally I'm not looking forward to this album. Scola was let go because "five people fuck up the money" according to Nokio in a Dru Hill YouTube interview, Woody claims he's going back to gospel, which leaves Jazz, Sisqo and Nokio with a rookie who'll probably get paid 1/2 of what they get paid since he's not an original member. The 2 songs I've heard from the album were pretty crappy. Hell, at this point all we got is their past 3 albums. Let's just play them and remember Dru Hill for what they once were...

InDRUpendence Day?!

OUCH.

A root canal seems more pleasing than listening to this song. 6 listens? I didn't even finish the first.

LOL @ dar....i couldn't sit through it one time...let alone six times...bless u harlem

you know, i've never used the term "side eye" in my life. however after listening to 80% of this song, i have to take it to the next level: the "sigh die" (sigh, and then die). ugh.
