John Forte Celebrates His 'Homecoming' with Talib Kweli
After reading John Forte's very personal account of his first day out of prison on The Daily Beast, I was filled with a melancholy mix of sadness and hope. I felt sadness for the fact that this otherwise intelligent young man got caught up in a mess of his own doing and lost seven years of his life in the penal system. But I also felt the hope of a man given a second chance to do right, to be better. How many of our Black men don't get that chance or if they do, they squander it? Forte has been out of jail for a little over a month now, so there's no telling what his future may hold, but I'm rooting for him and looking forward to what he has in store personally (he seriously needs to write a book) and professionally. If this track with Talib Kweli where they both flow over the instrumental to Kanye's "Homecoming" is any indication, then perhaps John Forte hasn't missed a beat.

Soulrific | January 28, 2009 3:02 PM | PermalinkNever really liked Forte when he came out but I guess he worked on his craft while locked up because his wordplay and delivery are both on point, very seldom does another MC outshine Talib on his own track. Forte does on this joint. I'm a wait and see what he does in the next few weeks before i officially jump on his bandwagon:-)
