It's exceptionally hard not to project all of the tragedy in Jennifer Hudson's life onto everything she's done lately, including this new video for her next single "If This Isn't Love." In it she sings, poses, and looks as gorgeous as ever as a young couple flirts and exchanges loving glances and gestures in the background. Though probably simple for practical reasons--we know this was a hard video shoot for her to get through--it works well with the straightforward, decidedly unembellished song. It's easy to read her performance as more tender than tinged with sadness. Her valiant effort to move on is admirable, and what better way to do that then through a song (and video) about love.
