First Spin
Which of These Tracks Passes The SoulBounce Sniff Test?
It's been a hot minute since we've done a Sniff Test, and what better time than today to bring the beat back. This week we're giving a quick listen to four tracks that dropped that may or may not deserve a second spin. We have Big Boi embracing the current trends and employing Auto-Tune on his song "Ringtone" from the forthcoming Sir Lucious Left Foot. In the hands of a lesser artist this might have been a train wreck, but Big Boi makes it work...kinda. Detroit femcee Mae Day dropped a Sade-inspired mixtape, Cherish the Day, produced by De Notes and Mick Boogie that gave unequivocal proof of why we made her Bounce-Worthy. Her "Hold On," a mashup of Ms. Adu's "Nothing Can Come Between Us," may just have you pressing repeat repeatedly. Riding the throwback wave is Aceyalone with the hand-clapping and foot-stomping joyride of "The Way It Was" featuring Bionik. If you were a fan of Raphael Saadiq's The Way I See It, then this may appeal to you as well. Lastly we have another remix of Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" by DJ Sona straight out of Taiwan. Put your dancing shoes on, because this soulful house mix of Bey's hit is a party starter. [OS/MDMD/OKP/MS]

First time hearing about Mae Day but this mix tape is one of the best I have heard in the last 2 years!
