A Soulful Noise, Bounce Back
Al B. Sure! Has Found A New 'Home' At Hidden Beach
![]()
Although he hasn't released any new music since the early '90s, Al B. Sure! has stayed on his grind. He's been busy as a radio DJ for the majority of that time, he was last seen on MTV's Rock the Cradle supporting his son Lil B.'s singing pipe dreams and he was most recently heard as the narrator on TV One's stellar series UnSung. Now 17 years after the release of what many thought was his last album, Al B. Sure! has signed with Hidden Beach and plans to release a new disc entitled Honey I'm Home this May. Talk about an unexpected turn of events. Al B. is the last person we'd ever think would make a return to the recording booth, much less on the label home to Jill Scott and Kindred the Family Soul. We'll reserve judgment on this project until after we hear the first single, but what do you think? Can Al B. Sure! make a comeback? Do you want him to?

CHRISTOPHER RED | March 17, 2010 1:33 PM | PermalinkHere is Al B Sure’s 22 year old girlfriend shaina who used to work at the Montrose and told everyone they were getting married. She is positioned that way because she is fat just like him. Creepy pic and very ghetto!

Al is 40! Trust me, there is none of that "TRYING TO BE 20" going on! I'm "SURE" of it!
If your a fan of Al's, then this NEW CD is definitely one to add tot he colection!
Dude is like 45ish, hope he sticks to the classics. nothin scarier than seeing a man in his 40's trying to act 20. HIs music was smooth though so I wont pass judgment until I hear for myself. Just no corny videos please!
Derrick | March 14, 2009 11:31 PM | PermalinkAL B left a catalouge of music that 17 - 20yrs later still get radio play. That also includes the songwriting/production collaborations with cousin Kyle West, Moe P and Devante Swing on artist like Jodeci, Tevin and Alsyon Williams to name a few. I love Al B Sure and will be supporting this album. For those unsure, he has performed in various areas in recent yrs. Also he will be making music for the grown n sexy not the put a ring on it or t pain audience but those who love music. Give him a chance you may just like it. May 26th Honey Im Home.

Toni | March 12, 2009 11:23 AM | PermalinkHmmm..yeah, it's been a grip, and I didn't even know he'd been dj'ing all this time. But I agree with what's been said, because Hidden Beach's top, most notable artists are anything but garbage, so there must be a good method behind signing him after all this time. I hope. We'll see what he actually comes up with though.
miss concrete jungle | March 11, 2009 4:05 PM | PermalinkI love this music and I know his isn't the best person live, but at the end of the day AL B. Sure produced classic and songs to make us dance, love, and feel good. I look forward and will support his come back.
Patricia Brown | March 11, 2009 2:40 PM | Permalink@JNez- I think it may be okay....Hidden Beach is not a corny, commercial company. They're smaller and tend to deal with the REAL. I think his signing with them is a good sign. I'll wait of course to hear a track or two before buying anything, but I could handle Al B. Sure! coming back for the grown n' sexy crew....
DLS77 | March 11, 2009 2:06 PM | PermalinkI pray to God he doesnt, I saw the dude live in concert and he sounded like pure garbage. When you talk about a stduio singer he comes to mind, although his first CD still gets heavy rotation in whip:-)
stoneyisland | March 11, 2009 2:02 PM | Permalinkoh god...no. just no. just nooooooo. in effect mode is a classic, but it's 21 years old. but i bet you that's just the market al b. sure is going to try to reach with his "new" cd. man please. you are almost 40. can we get our grown man on? sing something that bobby womack or peabo bryson would sing...something age appropriate. if he's rapping or ad-libbing about kicking women out of his bed in the middle of the night after sex, (like new edition did in 2004) i'm done. why can't people just leave it alone? continue to play the background, tour over the summers performing hits from your catalog. but please, i beg, leave the new cd releases to the young folk...
JNez | March 11, 2009 1:55 PM | PermalinkKyle West break it down......
Soulrific | March 11, 2009 1:52 PM | Permalinkokay this new came straight out of left field. i can't believe it's been 17 years since his last record. i would have to hear what Al sounds like after all this time. Hidden Beach doesn't just sign anyone--he must still have something. he was always a dope writer, at the very least. i know one thing--i still sometimes bump the "Private Times . . ." album like it's 1991.
