By now it's common knowledge that
President Barack Obama and
First Lady Michelle are huge music fans with exceptional taste. They've already had music icons like
Stevie Wonder and
Earth, Wind & Fire perform at the White House, and they've only been there for nine weeks! And when they're away from their home for the next
four eight years, the music goes with them. Sure,
they may have their individual iPods loaded up with their personal faves, but when they fly the friendly skies on Air Force One they can put those 'Pods on pause and listen to six custom-programmed channels of in-flight entertainment. CNN talked to the company that compiles the customized playlists based on requests from the President and First Family, and it should come as no surprise that Pop, Soul and R&B are well represented. Music from artists such as
Beyoncé,
Kanye West, and
Rihanna is played alongside more grown-up fare from
The Isley Brothers and
Eric Benét, who also spoke to CNN for the piece. The playlists are updated every 60 days to keep fresh tunes in rotation for the First Travelers. This is definitely change that we can believe in--and groove to.
