Sh*t or Shinola?, Video SoulBounce
Is This Video The 'Best' Drake Could Do?
The video for Drake's "Best I Ever Had" dropped yesterday. As did my jaw when I first saw it. Directed by Kanye West, the clip feels like an adolescent fantasy, filled with big breasted girls and um, not much else. I guess you could insert your own Degrassi: The Next Generation jokes here. Seriously, the video is lacking...everything. I expected more from Ye and his high-concept imagination ("Flashing Lights," etc.). Instead, he left nothing to the imagination. Shame.
The 22-year old tried to explain it away in an interview with Complex magazine:
"Basically we decided, as opposed to taking ourselves super serious, we just wanted to have some fun with it. Myself, being a young man, a young single man at that, I kind of wanted to be real about the way I function with women at this current point in my life. Which is, I don't have one woman that I call my girl. There's different girls in my life that play different roles and I see at different times, but collectively they kind of make up the roster of happiness for me [Laughs]."Well, I guess that "kind of" makes sense. With that said, though, Drake... come better next time. [No Laugh] Video after the bounce.

Tittys, sweaty girls in a locker room = epic win :)
Mutada al sader the king | July 3, 2009 7:33 PM | PermalinkI guess dark-skinned girls don't have sweaty, heaving titty balls.
I get the campiness of this video. It's stupid and fun if you love titty balls. But since I have my own and am not consumed with the thoughts of other titty balls, this is the last time I ever need to see this video.
Titty balls! LOL

Admit it, you just like the tiddies.
Butta | July 3, 2009 1:34 AM | Permalink[Mainstream] Drake is turning out to be one big disappointment after another. I mean, it's bad enough to have witnessed all that R. Kelly action he was gettin' on the BET Awards, then to find out a few days later that he signed with Lil' Wayne's label?! *sigh* It's always sad to see someone's potential just being thrown away. It's a shame too because I really liked [underground] Drake. "Don't You Have A Man," "Think Good Thoughts"...dammit, the whole "Comeback Season" mixtape is classic! That's the direction he should be headed.
What pisses me off is that Drake's already garnered the kind of "street cred" it takes most Hip Hop artists a few #1 singles and/or albums to attain. Right now, he could transcend all this mediocre, T & A mainstream stuff we've been fed for the better part of the last decade; helping to usher in the next phase of REAL Hip Hop...if he wanted to!
My advice: More Phonte, [a lot] less Weezy.
FireMadeFlesh | July 3, 2009 12:00 AM | PermalinkI guess since I never had anything invested in Drake nor any sort of anticipation or expectations for the outcome of this video that must be why I'm not disappointed in the least.
nOvaMatic | July 2, 2009 11:15 PM | Permalink"it's not a video for girls, tho"
whatev. I love tiddies as much as the next person
its tongue in cheek. I like the video. it maketh me laugh
huny | July 2, 2009 4:43 PM | PermalinkThe video is simple and I get the joke. I'm with Stylus - It's not a video for girls tho, SORRY! (since his Gone So Far is really for the ladies, can't he do a guys video-geez)
"You all are the best!" and guess what..the bimbos really aren't they loose but he keeps them inspired! Go TeamPimp!
B | July 2, 2009 4:22 PM | PermalinkVery corny and immature! "Take the D!" wermp...wermp...Plus, it looks like Kanye's video for the song on his first disc. (i think the song was "Work it Out" or somethign like that...)...but yes, he's only 22 and clearly still marketing for the Degrassi generation....
I'm really not impressed with his music...But whenever I hear him in interviews, he seems to have more depth than this crap he's peddling...
DLS77 | July 2, 2009 3:10 PM | Permalinkwho doesn't love sweaty tiddy-balls?
DJStylus | July 2, 2009 2:54 PM | PermalinkWhy Wheelchair Jimmy, why?
Soulrific | July 2, 2009 2:23 PM | Permalinkthis video is wack, unlike the song...
however, regarding his comment about the video, at least he kept it real as with this comment:
"when you're out there and they put that D on you, take that D! take that D like the champions you are."!
mo' freddie | July 2, 2009 2:22 PM | PermalinkHey...it is what it is. I didn't mind it...at all.
"Take dat D"
Manamongst Hussein | July 2, 2009 1:53 PM | PermalinkThis video needs a serious do-over 'cause this... *sigh*. For real, Kanye?
I hope there's a dope video for "Houstatlantavegas" or "Successful" in the works to make up for this crap!
Bree | July 2, 2009 1:42 PM | PermalinkThis is pitiful. Kanye's not as much of a creative genius when it comes to projecting someone else's dreams.
