Can Amerie Convince Us Of These 'Pretty Brown Eyes'?
I've been reading from various internet sources that Amerie's new track with Trey Songz is the hotness or some variation thereof. There are two issues with this sentiment. Firstly and most glaringly obvious is the sample from Mint Condition's "Breakin' My Heart." Quiet Storm classic this song was and will continue to be, so if it's going to be reinterpreted, please do this song a bit more justice. That being said, Amerie sounds cute as always. Secondly, Trey Songz really adds nothing to this track in my opinion and leaves me just wanting to hear the original song more and more. Judge for yourself below.

I have never been a fan of Amerie and I doubt I ever will be. This song is aight. The teeny boppers will probably love it, but those who are familiar with the original, even tho it's really different from this remake, will still most likely be offended by this when they hear it.

I LOVE Amerie vocals, she is dope. Hope the album has some cuts.

No and HELL NO!
Vivrant Thang | September 16, 2009 6:30 PM | PermalinkNot one of Amerie's stronger songs. Definitely album-filler. Speaking of which. haven't enough songs been leaked to create a whole album already? Just wondering.
cjayconrod | September 16, 2009 5:34 PM | PermalinkIf I see Trey Songz in the street, I'm stealin him off the top, and I wanna pee in Amerie's cereal for this garbage,
JustChaz | September 16, 2009 4:27 PM | Permalinklove the song ,and looking to add it to my playlist. both artists are under rated.

keyknow | September 16, 2009 12:46 PM | PermalinkFunny I wrote about this song yesterday.I too thought"why are they doing this". glad to know its not a remake but...as a huge Amerie fan, I think her other singles were much better and this attempt is so-so. I agree Trey adds nothing to the song...
Reecie | September 16, 2009 12:30 PM | PermalinkI actually really like this song. Which surprised me because when I first saw that they remade it I said 'why can't people leave classic music alone.' But I like it because they completely changed it. The lyrics are different. So really it can't compare at all to the original. I even don't mind Trey Songs who I usually don't really care for at all. Maybe I just really want to support Amerie though lol.
