Is Alicia Keys Giving Us 'Anything' New To Love?

Yesterday, we mentioned Alicia Keys a lot, detailing her visit to Today in the aftermathglow of Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards as well as the premiere of the video for "Million Dollar Bill," the song she penned for Whitney Houston. Also this week, a new song by Keys was released, the midtempo "Doesn't Mean Anything," which will serve as the first single from her upcoming album due for release this November. Speaking to MTV, Keys said the song's "sound is very different -- it almost feels like you're flying. It takes you there. It has that piano, heavy-drum feeling. But the song touches you in this way. You dream of having all these things, you dream of going all these places. But what's the point of doing that, having that, if the one you want to be there isn't with you?"

Well, alright. Upon first listen, it's a cool joint. I think I might give it more of a chance based on how excited AK is about it. She seemed downright giddy while discussing it as if it were the first record she's ever made. It puts me in the mind of her previous album's lead single, "No One," and just like that track (which I came to like a lot), it'll probably have to grow on me. Take a listen and let us know if it means anything to you.

Alicia Keys: "Doesn't Mean Anything"

Comments

I really like the song. Yes it does have that tone and beat of "No One"! Yet it feels smoothed out. The track reminds me of not taking that special person for granted, and living each day as it comes.

I actually love this song. But I always love Alicia's singles and hate her albums with the exception of her last album which I actually liked alot.

I was done at the 2:39 mark and I'm surprised I didn't press stop earlier.

I am officially bored of Alicia Keys. She is talented, we surely can't deny that, however she needs to come with something different now. Enough is enough.

Sounds like the theme tune of some goofy 90s sitcom.

I Like Alicia Keys, but this song has no "SOUL". The song don't do anything for me..

she is beautiful but I just never seem to like her projects. The only thing I've really liked from her is Diary, and I think that's because it just screamed Tony Toni Tone.

I just asked a friend last night," is it me or didn't she make this song already"? My friend laughed. I like Alicia a lot but she needs to stop...I am so bored... all she has done is recycle her recipe for success...period...end of question!

I need need her to come with something else...grow, stretch, live will you!

Album in November? Didn't she just put out an album?

Her last album was her best to me. She isnt a great vocalist but she is a very good musician. THis song is just ok.

Me no likey at all. Too screechy

Yup, exactly what Reecie said!

Very overated. Nice song, like most of her first singles are. Then you get the album and like 4 songs... Total. Lots of tuning going on, all of the sustained vocals. Very cute girl, gravely manly voice and all. But her voice is NOT all that they make it out to be. 12 Grammy awards? GTFOH

Its eh to me. It is better than "No One" which I still CAN'T STAND. The best lead single she had IMO was "You Don't Know My Name". I loved that one when I heard it immediately and it had me anticipating The Diary. I haven't really been excited for an A. Keys joint since, but I do still like her. I hope the rest of the CD is good.

No feeling it right now. It may sound better to me after it gets played a gazillion times on air, but right now I'll pass.

Sorry but me no likey. She's very talented, but too overated.

baby doll could put out a country album and i'm still scooping it up
