Robin Thicke Offers 'Sex Therapy.' Sound Of Panties Dropping Detected Worldwide.

There is no hidden message in Robin Thicke's new single "Sex Therapy." The agenda is clear: he's all the medicine you need and he's gonna give it to you how you like. I leave it to you to decide if you can resist the kind of therapy he's offering. He relies on his trusty falsetto throughout the song and it sounds so titillating over the relentless, grinding beat and welling strings from Polow Da Don, who employed a similar technique on Ciara's "Promise." Listen until you're satisfied. [H/T:PBB]

nice track - a bedroom track, kinda like some think Tank would sing or even Maxwell. What do u guys think?
Mr.abi | October 15, 2009 5:22 AM | PermalinkI loved Promise, but this is nice too....BUT [queues up "I Need Love"].
SororSalsa | October 12, 2009 11:07 PM | PermalinkI love Ciara's Promise! I didn't catch the connection initially, but re-listening now, I hear it a bit...
Reecie | October 12, 2009 7:37 PM | PermalinkFull disclosure: I like this song as much as I do because I like "Promise." Which is to say I truly appreciate Palow Da Don's slow-jam sensibilities more than Ciara or Thicke's ability to sing over them. Call it formulaic but it's effective as hell in this instance.
@ill Mami: I agree re: "I Need Love" but this song still scorches.
Ro | October 12, 2009 4:39 PM | PermalinkI have no idea what Ciara's "Promise" sounds like, nor am I as acquainted with Robin's catalog as well as many of you are. All I know is that this song terribly bores me.
The last song he sang that his falsetto sounded amazing on that I stumbled upon by accident is "I Need Love". THAT is the jam. I somehow feel that "I Need Love" is more a of a panty-soaker than this song.
ill Mami | October 12, 2009 4:10 PM | PermalinkNaturally, I like this because I'm a strong fan of Robin Thicke's as he could sing tax notices and I'd be all ears, but in honesty, to me this sounds SO much like Ciara's "Promise" that I sadly can't fully give Robin any creative credit this time out. It's truly for radio, and people will latch on because they've heard this before and well, it worked the first time. But I'm not going to sit here and say that the panties didn't burst into flames upon listening...*fans self*
Audio Diva | October 12, 2009 4:03 PM | PermalinkI've listened about 8 times. I'm still not satisfied. I'm even more sexually frustrated now, actually. thanks ro!
huny | October 12, 2009 3:48 PM | PermalinkThat's cool anon. I'm the opposite. I love Robin's voice, however, Maxwell's could never turn me on. It is called a preference.
Anyway, Robin has himself a banger with this one. I love all of his music but this is on different plane from the rest and I like it.
Monica | October 12, 2009 3:09 PM | PermalinkI just don't find anything appealing about this dude's voice, and the song's production feels too trendy for me.
anon | October 12, 2009 1:51 PM | Permalinkheard it last week and swooned. and that panty dropping sound was indeed heard in my little part of the world! LOL
Reecie | October 12, 2009 1:40 PM | PermalinkR. Got another hit on his hands. This song is better than every song on his last album.
See how good the human voice sounds with out pitch correction f'ing it up? Robin doing his Prince/Brian Mcknight thing. And it never sounded so good. Dude is a beast. Nice to hear him over other production too, sounds refreshing.
Mutada/Mullah Atari | October 12, 2009 12:40 PM | PermalinkIts a cool song, Robin Thicke is hot!!, his last CD "Side Step",Swee Child" is still in heavy rotation, I hope he continues to work w/ producers that share his vision of music and not turn into a waterdown pop artist chasing a hit
stickyc | October 12, 2009 12:33 PM | PermalinkDon't get me wrong, the song is GOOD. But after listening to it I found myself having "Promise" on repeat. To me it's just "Promise"'s little brother. That being said, Robin can do no wrong in my book.
Rae | October 12, 2009 12:23 PM | Permalinkyou aint never lied. I spent 40 minutes listening to this song--I cant wait to end this blasted abstienence with this song.
Cherayla | October 12, 2009 11:36 AM | Permalink*NO QUESTION
.::MuZik::. | October 12, 2009 11:33 AM | PermalinkLUV IT!
Now, if he would just work on his image, and stage presence (GAG!). Now question, he's got a potential HIT, on his hands.
