The End Is Near: Beyoncé & Lady Gaga Dazzle With 'Video Phone'

I can't believe I'm writing this, but I absolutely adore Beyoncé and Lady Gaga's track and video for their collaboration known as "Video Phone." Granted, I haven't liked anything Beyoncé has done since "Me Myself & I," but I did show some love to Lady Gaga's impressive artistic ability not too long ago. Watching this brightly-colored and assertive display of female domination play out on my laptop's screen, I couldn't help but strongly desire plastic undergarments and my own entourage of devoted male dancers, capable of being the human equivalent of a Louis Vuitton bag I crave so much. Remember that feeling you got when you first watched, mouth agape and ass shaking, "Crazy In Love"? It's kind of like that. But with two booty drops instead of one. Take a gander and enter what accounts for contemporary Pop heaven.

Comments

Lady Gaga is stimulated by glam rock musicians and artists this sort of as David Bowie and Queen, too as pop performers these types of as Madonna together with Michael Jackson. She is simply insane.

I guess when the pimp is a pimptress it's ok to produce trite lyrics and titty bar moves....just as long as there is no white boy because that would be racist.

Just saying... one of the two top earning black female artist is tooting her booty like the primates at the local zoo. Are we only recognizable for the titillating sexual fantasies... in a time when we have outrageous rates of HIV, low marriage rates...high abortion rates?....I'm just sayin'...

That was the tackiest, ghettoist sh*t i've ever seen. There is nothing appealing about the song or the video. And, as previously stated, WTF is up the guns?!?

Now that I got that out the way.

Do we really have no standards for music anymore?? I'm all for creative freedom, I'm a musician myself, but Beyonce's music is just a constant remix/rehash of her older material. And most of that stuff wasn't top notch to begin with.

As far as Lady GaGa, this seems like a step DOWN for her. The track the same, her voice is almost indistinguishable from Bey's, and she looks like an anorexic drag queen next to the oversexed too-diva-to-be-a-slut star of the show. GaGa is here for hype only, and that's just disrespectful.

Can we get just one video where Beyonce isn't half naked? At least just mix it up a bit.

Entertaining if nothing else (sans the guns of course)...while I've grown to like Beyonce, I see a real uniformity in her videos (chick is always at the center, thus the need to be the center of attention - I GET IT! lol). Love the song, and Lady Gaga who I was never a stan of, represents..which kinda made me reevaluate how I feel about her. With all the Cassies, Ameries and (insert HUGE *gag*) Rihannas in the biz right now, give Gaga this: AT LEAST SHE TRIES TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT/AVANT-GARDE.
("Hubba, hubba" - who says that? Funny...in a humorous, totally non-mocking way!) :-)

I just didn't get the guns. Why all the guns? Did the NRA put in on the production of the video? The guns just made what was already weird, even weirder.

Hate the song, and IMO the vid is nothing special.

I just wish these two would hibernate for a few months, i'm fed up of hearing about them.

The inclusion of Gaga on the remix is purely for hype, it in NO WAY adds to the song (obviously except for the hype factor lol).

@ jj:

Where is my personal outrage that I expressed during the JT/Ciara fiasco? It is nowhere to be found. Namely because no woman in this video is tethered to a man with a collar around her neck. There are no overt or covert messages that send my side-eye twitching because I feel there are racial issues that are being used to simply start controversy and sell records. I'm not saying Lady Gaga hasn't tried her hand at this very thing because she has. But I am saying that this video at face value is IMO full of the contemporary Pop ideals of near-nakedness, overzealous gyrations, and flamboyant background dancers.

In short, I like it.

@STONEYISLAND

Uhm, NO.

Overall, I loved the visuals. Still hate the song. It's a typical Beyonce glam vid. Her fans will be more than satisfied.

Surely you jest?! There is nothing new or innovative in the above. The dance routines are merely tired a** stripper moves that one can see at any old sleezy titty bar!

Were is the outrage so many of you expressed with the Ciara/ Justin fiasco.

In cultures were females are devalued and potential mates are few...female explicit sexually lewd behavior is encouraged.

This video seems to be a desperate ploy by an aging songstress.

I love art.

Art is good.

This is art.

This is soooo cool! Having Lady Gaga and Beyonce together on a music video. I will definitely download it on my phone. Thanks, thanks a lot.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed the female domination theme. A lot of people I talked to didn't get it. Even though I'm a guy, I really appreciate how bold the video is. I really enjoyed it, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Bey stan... haha.

Tell us how you really feel Philly....or is it CoolMan? I respect your opinion man, but is it necessary to call her "gaygay"? What's with that? Actually gaga's body was bangin, and clearly people are feeling it...her..them. Not a fan of her at all but, what's with this fake rigid orthodoxy to what you think is R&B in it's purity (my emphasis)? Music is open source baby, let it roam free and and just pick what you like.

gaga actually looks better the B, in this video............

I have to say that the new direction that R&B is going is ridicolous. Beyonce is an amzing artist and the original track, "Video Phone" was a good song. I don't see why she had to go include Lady GayGay and torment the track.
The video wasn't so good, it was off to a good start i thought, when she had the white and black on, after that it was boring.
And i thought Lady GayGay could of provided better lyrics that fit the song and they could of done some better choreography.
Why is Beyonce going into this new direction?

wow, you haven't really liked anything since Me, Myself and I? Not even: Irreplaceable, Halo, If I Were a Boy or Sweet Dreams?

I was impressed with Lady Gaga being able to put some stank on her dance moves.
