Last week news floated around the web that the '90s duo Groove Theory are getting back together.We got  a bit preoccupied with the blizzard of life in DC to report on it here at SBHQ, but now that there is time to share, not sure this news as newsworthy for us as it is for Bryce Wilson, the male member of the group that contains the effervescent Amel Larrieux.

Now, I'm not saying that Bryce would be the sole beneficiary of an image boost from the group's reunion, but if one were to do a chart comparison of what has jumped off for both members since the group's break up, we would say hands-down that Amel is probably the most noted for her creative outputs since their split. Her slew of solo releases since the duo's parting have not only been monetarily successful, but Amel is often given the label of being one of the first artists to kick off the then-new category of music in the '90s we nostalgically refer to as Neo-Soul.

But, we can't let face value fool us. While Amel is most known now and pretty much was the most memorable face of Groove Theory when they first came onto the scene, Bryce has been making such strong moves behind-the-scenes that we can forgive him for his participation as an actor in the God-awful movie Beauty Shop. Producing for the likes of Mary J. Blige and Toni Braxton and working with such well-known songwriters as Babyface, Wilson's production sales have exceeded 50 million since his exit from Groove Theory, and he's gone on to win two GRAMMY Awards.

So, this repairing should be something worth watching. When two people reconnect after having remarkable success as individuals, the creativity sparks that ensue are bound to be hotter than ever. Let's hope that Groove Theory brings the fiyah in the 2010.
