That New Erykah Won't 'Be Long'

I've been having a great time laughing maniacally to myself to those fair weather Erykah Badu fans, many of whom are good friends of mine, who are oh so happy that she's "back" with "Window Seat." Have I got news for you. She's never left, and she surely cares not for others that want her to remain in a familiar lane. As much as I love her tale of not wanting anyone sitting next to her on a plane and hoping for a safe touchdown, this is but one track on the upcoming New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh. Her latest track, "Gone Baby, Don't Be Long" is another. I love it because of its funkiness, but also because I know that it will invariably perplex and annoy those who thought they had Erykah pinned down. Hey, if you don't like this album, at least you can hope that the Part Three might have something just for you. But I highly doubt it.

Erykah Badu: "Gone Baby, Don't Be Long"

Hmmm looks like the folk at her label put a block on that vid quickly! Most Badu fans will have caught wind as soon as it dropped so no need to worry.

I agree 110% with this post ... Badu is Badu and she will drop whatever the hell she pleases, which is why/how most of us bacame fans in the first place. She is impossible to pin down.

There was a (minor) uproar when 'Jump Up In The Air' leaked, many (incl. myself) thought WTF?! but then 'Window Seat' dropped, and now this. We won't know what we are getting on NA pt2 until it's released.

It was the same with Part 1, 'Honey' was leaked first and was NOTHING like the rest of the album.

If there is one thing to say about her it's that she makes her own lane ... she is above boxes/genres/styles ... and is all the better for it.

She doesn't even know what she's going to do herself most of the time. That's what's great about her, she does what she feels and its always hot cuz its 100% real. Haters want her old ish buy her old albums.
