Gil Scott-Heron Isn't 'New' To This
Iconic poet-musician-author-legend Gil Scott-Heron presents the video for the title track from his latest album, I'm New Here. Other than the footage of Scott-Heron strolling through Harlem that is projected on various objects like the wall and keyboard keys, the video shows him and an acoustic guitarist in a recording studio. Shot in completely live sound (practically unheard of in today's music videos), we find the pioneering poet sing-talking about the life-journey of coming full circle. Both Scott-Heron's voice and eyes are hypnotic, making it hard to look away. The simple video--just like the song--is both haunting and calming at the same time.
