Mary Sounds Quite Contrary On 'Break Up To Make Up'
Mary J. Blige is making it really hard to remain a die-hard fan. I forgave her for Love & Life because she bounced back strong with The Breakthrough and Growing Pains, back-to-back bangers for the most part. Unfortunately her last release, Stronger withEach Tear, ventured back into the valley and it sounds like she may be staying there for a minute with "Break Up To Make Up," a leaked song that is apparently from her new recording sessions. This song is OK at best and another trip into Auto-Tune Land at worst. Mary J. is beyond putting out "OK" music and so much better than relying on Auto-Tune. This track sounds lazy and uninspired and doesn't show her growth as an artist, which is what's most disappointing of all.

I kinda like it. You can tell it's not finished...the track is hot...maybe rewrite some of the lyrics..I barely hear auto-tune...it picks up during the 2nd verse!

Ed | September 2, 2010 11:21 AM | Permalinkthe track is cool... kinda some Loose Ends shit. Just kind of a waste on the writing. I could ride to it though, strictly off the track.
lookadeez | August 30, 2010 5:08 PM | Permalinkwow, you would think that she would have took a note from herself, this year was or last was the anniversary of My Life, she should have done a my life 2 with some nice samples and new music to follow it up, but so many good ideas are wastes because so many older artist are trying to keep up with today's youth, ( Beyonce anyone) when they don't realize that their fans, old and young, love the music that is true to the artist
Dj Caramel | August 30, 2010 5:03 PM | PermalinkAt this point, no one should be using autotune unless they are doing a tribute to Roger and Zapp, that's it
Auto-Tune is put on the same level as Agent Orange, asbestos, and subprime mortgages on Time Magazine's '50 Worst Inventions of All Time'. http://green.autoblog.com/2010/05/28/time-magazine-posts-50-worst-inventions-of-all-time-includes-se/

Cognac Jones | August 30, 2010 1:01 PM | PermalinkMary has officially fell off, seems she only makes good music after a man dogs her out, breaks her heart and steals her ATM card:-)
