Time and time again, the U.K. has proven that there is a wealth of soul music talent
across the pond just waiting for U.S. fans to sink our musical ears into. Add Nadine
Charles to that list. If you took a listen to Keyknow's "Strawberry Soulcake" edition of
The Mixologists series, then you've been up on Nadine's song, "You Are the One" for a
few months. Well now, the twenty-something singer/songwriter/model keeps things
going with a too-cute video for her equally cute song. As she sings about finding "the
one," we follow her quest for love on the imaginary dating show, Find a Date. The
colorful, pop-influenced clip instantly reminded me of the music videos I watched
coming of age in the '80s, when the dresses were frilly and the special effects consisted
of laser lights. Her sound is far from dated, however, definitely leaving me looking
forward to hearing more from this rising star.
