'Saturday Night Live' Presents The 'Worst Of Soul Train'

It seems as if Saturday Night Live has been trying to appeal to a broader audience with some of their skits and characters as of late. They aren't quite at their Eddie Murphy heyday, but with Keenan Thompson's jheri curl wearing, off-key singing D'Andre Cole from the "What Up With That" sketch and the addition of new cast member Jay Pharoah, they now have a little more color and urban comedy in the mix. After regularly roasting BET, this past Saturday saw SNL taking aim at a revered institution in Black households--our beloved Soul Train. The skit promoted the Worst of Soul Train DVD box set and was hosted by Coughy Robinson, the white half-brother of Smokey Robinson, as he introduced lost footage of some of the worst acts to ever grace the Soul Train stage. Some of the fake acts were amusing, but they truly saved the funniest for last with host Jim Carrey serving up his best El DeBarge imitation with a hilarious song. If you haven't seen this already, just watch this to the end and get your laugh for the day.
