Does Beyoncé's '1+1' Video Add Up?

As she did with previous albums, it seems that Beyoncé will create videos for each song on 4. Last night, she debuted the video for the album's first track "1+1" on E!, much to her stan's delight. Directed by King B herself (along with directors Laurent Brient and Ed Burke) I don't know much about algebuh, either, B, but I do know that the video for "1+1" doesn't quite add up. The song, which has grown on me since I first heard it when she debuted it on American Idol, is about an intense love, yet all we get are intense glamour shots of King B looking greasier than a Popeye's two-piece in various states of undress and a brief glimpse of a male lead. If this had been a promo for the latest addition to her Heat perfume line then maybe I'd have been willing to grant a pass, but as an official video? I'll pass. Seeing as "Party" has already been tapped as the album's next official single and she's already shot the video, let's hope that it has a bit more life than this one.

I CANNOT stop laughing at "Am I the only one troubled by the fact that Beyonce doesn't know much about algebra?" HILARIOUS!!!!!!

I've seen vids from which she took scenes/inspiration from to make this. Ultimately don't care as we all are inspired by something. I think this video is okay. Sure, it looks like a continuation of her commercials for her perfumes but the camera tricks and lighting and the fabric/wind play make it work. Note that I didn't say her "raw emotion". I seriously just cannot BELIEVE her acting. She's gorgeous; goes without saying. She wore her wedding ring. Aww. This one is a valentine's day video-card.

I really like the song but the video did leave me feeling like I was high on some kind of hallucinogenic drug. The video was neither great nor bad. It was decent. I feel that if Rihanna or Lady Gaga did it, people would have been blown away. It's clear that Beyonce is not where she used to be (clear part of growing) but I think she has lots more greatness in her. We're just waiting for it to come each time she releases a video/album.

I think the problem is people expect to be blown away every time Beyonce does something. This song doesn't require all of that. I think it's beautiful, mature and somewhat sophisticated. She might've overdone it with the baby oil and glitter, but it does create an effect.

Beyonce is the Queen of Jacking so much so that she jacks herself. Nothing original about this video. She borrowed concepts from her previous videos and even the L'oreal commercials. I'm getting bored with her.

A beautiful vid, but corny song. Sorry!

This video makes me laugh. maybe if I was high I could get into it more... the song is great, but the video!! LOL @ lookin greasier than a popeyes two piece!!

Am I the only one troubled by the fact that Beyonce doesn't know much about algebra?
